About Us
About Us - Leaders / Our Beliefs - God, Bible, People, Jesus / Becoming a Christian / Living as a Christian
Victoria Evangelical Church was established in 1924 as a Christian Brethren Church. It is completely independent and although it has links to many other churches and Christian organisations it is completely autonomous.
The church is led by a group of elders who are responsible to God for the spiritual welfare of the church as well as the day to day organising of activities and caring for members.
We do not have a minister or pastor but rather the elders and the members are responsible for the various activities.
Our Beliefs
God is one - Father, Son and Holy Spirit
God is all powerful, all knowing and ever present.
God is holy - he cannot tolerate sin
God is love - he loves everyone regardless of age, race or spiritual condition.
The Bible is the authoritative word of God. It is the basis for life for the individual and for the church as a whole.
The Bible says of itself - "All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness". 2 Timothy 3v16
You are important to God and God wants your life to be meaningful and satisfying. Jesus said "I have come in order that you might have life, life in all its fullness". John 10v10
Everyone has fallen short of God's standards of morality. The Bible says that we all have sinned and that our sins cut us off from God. Romans 3v23, Isaiah 59v2
The result of our sin is punishment from God. The Bible says 'The wages of sin is death". Romans 6v23
Jesus is God, the Son. John 1 v 1 & 14
He came to earth from heaven; he died, was buried and rose again as predicted in the Old Testament. 1 Corinthians 15 v 3 & 4
He died on the cross to take the punishment for our sin. The Bible says "Christ died for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God." I Peter 3v18
Jesus is the only way back to God. Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me." John 14v6
No-one is born as a Christian and must make a conscious decision to trust Jesus.
What you must do:
*Admit to God that you have sinned.
*Acknowledge that Christ died to be the Saviour that you need.
*Repent of your sin. This means turning your back on everything in your life
that you know to be wrong.
*Invite Jesus into your life to be your Saviour and Lord.
What to pray:
"God, I have sinned against You and I am sincerely sorry. Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for loving me enough to die for my sins. I now ask You to forgive me and to come into my life. Give me strength to turn from my past sins, and to live my whole life from now on in a way which pleases You. Be my Saviour and Lord for ever. Amen."
If you have received Christ then tell someone about it.
*Pray, and read the Bible every day. God will speak to you through the Bible,
and when He does, obey Him!
*Join a church where the Bible is faithfully taught.
*Demonstrate your new life in Christ by love and concern for others.
*Get baptised - not as an infant - but as a believer by full immersion in obedience
to Jesus.
